Flag of the Men of the Diamond Temple.

With the holidays now behind us I have updated and added many new items to my Etsy shop. A nice selection of remaining paper cutouts and a limited quantity of one of the flags I made for my 2008 show The Righteous Age ( as seen above, except for some reason it’s uploading a little strangely). Please feel free to share this information, and if you so choose to make a purchase I hope you enjoy having an item as much as I’ve enjoyed making them.

Wishing you and your’s a very Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays! See you in 2012.

Radical Restock

So I finished Installing the show of mine which opens Friday.  Here are some pics.  Yes, I know they are awful looking.  They were taken with a 5.1 megapixel camera.  If you are near to Philadelphia please do come out and see them in person.  They will look much better.  Friday November 18th 7-9pm at Benna’s on the corner of 8th St. and Wharton St. in gorgeous South Philadelphia.  Don’tcha dare miss it!

GREATEST HITS

This Friday I will be having a show of some objets d’art.  It will be bags of fun.  And I will dare to use the word affordable, so a bag hutch may be needed to house all of the items you will decide to procure for yourself or loved ones should you choose to attend.  The show is in South Philadelphia at Benna’s on the corner of 8th and Wharton.  It runs from 7-9 PM and wine and cheese refreshments will be served. Here is the block of text that will be playing the role of press release:

Greatest Hits is a collection of new unique multiples in the form of cut out paper puppets. Many of Matt’s favorite characters and subjects will be on view such as Tigers, Wrestling Heroes, Wrestling Tiger Heroes, Men with Strange Heads, Wrestling Heroes with Strange Heads, and More! But that’s not all! All new characters will also make their debut such as Kitty Kats, and Girls??!? This is truly a show for everyone. And it’s all for sale. With the Holidays quickly approaching here is a perfect opportunity to get some shopping done early and cross some of those names off your list. Matt Leines Greatest Hits will feature the perfect art gifts for Men, Children, Man Children, Grandchildren, Boyfriends, Girlfriends, Friends, and all sorts of Ladies. You won’t want to miss it!

Early Notice #1

The 2011 Space 1026 Art Auction will be here before you know it, and then Xmas, and New Years, and then the Mayan 2012 stuff, and then possibly the 2012 Space 1026 Art Auction, unless the Mayan stuff gets in the way early or whatever.  Up there is the postcard image I photoshopped together using my limited yet tried-and-true photoshop tricks, and here’s the info below.  I’ll remind you when it gets closer.

SPACE 1026 ART AUCTION

Thick Ass Paper

Paper used to be my surface of choice when I made ink drawings with the thinest layers of watercolor over top.  Then I started using acrylic again and the paper would get all curly and wavy, thusly a decision was made that wood would make for better surface. I grew tiresome of painting all daintily and this whole let’s make a big ol’ mess and slap and slop that paint around direction happened and look what happens to paper then.  It gets thick and gloppy and heavy and lays flat and even if it is a little wavy it looks good that way.  And then these two guys got finished and they will be in a show called Paper Chasers at Nudashank in Baltimore on November 5.  Go check it out if you are in that town.

Wacky Pack.

Looky! First batch of these paper toys are finally packaged and available for purchase at ye olde etsy shoppe I made. Check it out and spread the word! http://www.etsy.com/shop/mattleines

Bojangles.

Three jazzy dance men.  Well, at least in these arrangements.  I haven’t made these things in a while but teaching a puppet workshop with summer camp kids last month got me back in the spirit.  These are the same, yet unique.  Hundreds to follow.  Imagine the armies, gangs, teams, or chorus lines that will be possible.
